An OC graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science will:
Safely collect, process, perform and report routine clinical laboratory tests on biological specimens and other substances, with precision and accuracy under minimal supervision within a reasonable length of time.?Perform routine maintenance, standardization, calibration procedures for laboratory equipment and use necessary corrective methods to maintain and improve laboratory quality controls.?Use problem solving skills to recognize abnormal patient values and apply appropriate corrective procedures.?Correlate didactic instruction with laboratory results in the diagnosis and treatment of patients to understand the concept of total patient care.?Communicate well with all levels of personnel while demonstrating professional and ethical conduct, and adhere to patient safety guidelines.Stay current with new laboratory technologies and procedures through continuing professional education.Student must complete a minimum of 128 hours including the major, core, and minor if required. Elective hours may be needed to reach 128 hours.
