I had applied to Saint Mary University in Halifax, Canada for Diploma in computer science, I got accepted yet I didn't go to there the distance being the factor along with the high fees. I also applied to Amity but i didn't check the results, reason being their high fees to less placement ratio also their college is not freshers friendly. I put up other colleges such as MAIT and MSIT but I didn't qualify for them due my rank in jee mains. To get admission in VIPS you need to have atleast 1L rank in jee mains to get admission in CSE easily, you also need to have atleast 55% in PCM in 12th boards to get admission in this college through merit. The admission process is quite smooth and the teachers guide us through everything. No other entrance exam other than jee is accepted for BTech in this college
I am very passionate towards computers and programming which was my main reason to opt for cse BTech, the program is followed as per university guidelines and I opted in for this college's cse program because of the computers they use in their labs, 12th generation i7 processors with 16gb ram and 8gb GPU, which is enough to run almost anything. The curriculum covers a vast number of topics which includes DSA, cyber security, AI ML etc which is all needed for real life problems and applications. The improvement can be using a language which is more in use in current time rather than only C and C++, it would make is us more industry ready and would help us gain more experience in that language. The exams are held almost every month so you would have to have a grip on your subjects to atleast pass them, in a semester of 5 months, atleast 4 months would be exams.
The college offers various paid and unpaid internships for students, few of them being at IITs and IIITs for cybersecurity, AR and VR, these were unpaid internships for students seeking only knowledge and internship certificate. While there were other internships at Amazon and Nvidia which were paid (stipend) internships the stipend ranging between 10,000 to 20,000 inr.
Students are eligible for campus placements from 4th year or 6th semester, you need to clear your backlogs by 4th semester to get a chance to appear for campus placements. There is a career development cell which takes care for the placements. Till now only a few companies whose names are not disclosed to us have visited us but not a lot of students could clear their test, which makes is a worry for others. The first batch is yet to pass out so there is no clear picture of how much package is offered to students and the percentage of students getting placement. My plans after getting degree is to start my own tech startup with the knowledge I gained in college.
The fees for first year is 1,64,900 inr which includes tuition fees of 1,32,900 along with university charges of 20,000 inr and alumini contribution fund of 2,000 inr. It also includes a security deposit of 10,000 inr. The fees 2nd, 3rd and 4th year is 1,52,900inr per annum which includes the tuition fees of 1,32,900 and university charges of 20,000 inr. The fees is highest for first year while it becomes 12,000 inr less (per annum) for the next 3 remaining years
There are a lot of fests taking place throughout the year in vips, few being the lit fest for litrature and the law fest, but the major fest is initio which takes place during months of November to December depending on the exam timeline set by the University. All the books needed for the semester is available in the library and one can issue them for 2 weeks and then re-issue them. There is also an option for book bank where the student can opt to get all the books they need for semester and return them after semester, it costs around 6000-7000 inr. The classrooms are enabled with projectors which helps to display slides, 3d animations on the large white board. Rest there are bleeding edge computers available to use in both labs and library. The college has various sports teams such as basketball, volleyball, cricket, kabbadi etc and the college regularly participates in inter College/ inter University sporting events. There are a lot of societies run by students, example - ECell
7For students in classroom there is 1 faculty teacher per 60 students [theory classes] and for labs there is 1 faculty teacher per 30 students along with a lab assistant who guides us through our experiments [practical classes]. The faculty members are highly qualified with few having 2-3 PhD(s). The faculty of physics, chemistry, mechanics are highly likeable, they teach us in the most intriguing way possible also help us out whenever we need help, while the maths faculty can get a bit grumpy at times which although can feel a bit harsh but they also try their best in encouraging us. There are 2 class test, 2 mid term exams which are held in the college itself per semester, they contribute towards internal markings, while there is 1 external exam which is conducted in a different college which is under the same university. The examinations are of medium toughness and can be cleared if you studied well.
From 6 or 7th semester students get eligible for campus placement. Their are lot of companies visit campus every year such as TCS, atlassian, algessic india, chegg india, zenon analytics, reliance, precision industries (Dubai) and some public sector companies as well and lot more. Their are lot of offers made such as in last year a company named atlassian gives a higest package of 59.91 lpa to a cse student and average package is around 6 lpa.so overall placement is decent and varies year by year. As university doesn't provide the percentage placement list but this year, I've heard that 13% was ece placement, and the civil and electrical placement was very decent compare to others. My plans after degree is for higher studies from abroad or IIT'S .
We have a fixed curriculum for studies which are similar to IITs. And grading system in Jawaharlal Nehru University is relative and CGPA is based on grade which is given out of 9. Labs are still developing.
The curriculum of Jawaharlal Nehru University for Bachelor of Technology is the same as another technical university (IIT's, NIT's, IIT's, other GFTIs). Here we have a computer and electronics lab that pays a crucial rule for one's college. The syllabus was decent and up to the mark.
the course curriculum is quite good. they cover all aspects of computer science. this covers all imp topics needed for placement . teaching methods are not that good as some faculty are not good at all. there are two exams each sem, i.e. mid sem and end sem with a 1.5-month gap. difficulty of the exam is not that hard.
