Is IIT Bombay a Myth??

- The campus is all green and gives a very peaceful and healthy environment. And there are a lot of friends with whom we can walk around any time, which reduces mental stress.
- The college festivals like Indigo and take rest, have a crowd of almost around 1.5 lakhs are solely run by the students of IIT Bombay. Only so managing these face helps us to develop our soft skills..
- We can also choose interdisciplinary courses of our interest, which are not originally in our course curriculum. We have freedom to do any of the courses of our interest.
Dislikes
- Teaching method of some prof, not very good as sometimes we cannot hold our interest or attention towards this week because of difficulty in understanding the language or maybe the accent of Their English.
- Some of the hostels are very bad. They are very old hostels which are running from last 20 years and it becomes difficult for us to live there..
- There is a lot of peer pressure. As all the brilliant minds of India comes over there, and we have to compete in between them.
Remarks :
To be eligible to get admission into IIT Bombay, one must have to clear the exam. JEE advanced. The application form for this is released in the month of April after clearing the exam JEE Mains, which is a qualifying exam for national Institute of technology. The application fees is around 2100 rupees. And the reservation benefits can be applied at the time of fill up the form only. All we have to do is submit the reservation certificate along with other documents. The exam is held in the month of May or June and the results are declared after 15 days that is in the month of June followed by this we have a process of counselling in which you have to fill the choices of the course and colleges you want in priority order. The admission process is good for now, The areas of improvement are like reforming the reservation policies, or we can say that we can give reservation to only the kids whose family income is below average.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The reason why I chose this course is because all the topics or the course curriculum are in the field of interest of mine. Also, we can choose interdisciplinary courses of our own interest, so we cannot say that the course curriculum is irrelevant for us. Also, all the courses which are taught to us are based on real life analysis, so all those are relevant. We also have some activities of going in the real business market and discuss the problems with the customers and Foram solution based based on the reviews of the people. The course curriculum can be improved by weekly or alternative weeks, we can have a form to fill the feedback of the course. The frequency of exam is not a lot of much. We have one and semester and one mid semester exam and in between them. We have some quizzes like an alternative weeks, so the burden of exams is not more.
Placement Experience :
Large number of companies come for placements. More than 80% of students gets placed in the phase 1. Average package is around 21.26 LPA INR. Large companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Jane Street, Procter and gamble Jaguar, Microsoft, Google, etc comes for the placement. The highest package was around INR 4.2 CPA. And average package is around 21.26LPA. In the phase 1, around 1700 Placement offers were made and out of which 1450 offers were Accepted by the students. Around 82.1% of students gets placed in phase 1. My plan after getting the degree is to take a job and settle down.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The first semester fees was 1.6 lakhs and the second semester fee was 1.4 lakhs and the third semester fees was 1.43 lakhs. I'm not sure about future fee structure as it is variable. Tuition fees is one lakh. Student benevolent fund is 650. Registration fees was 900. Library fee was ?3000. Sports facilities fee was 2100 rupees. Institute student security deposit of 3000. Admission fees of ?2700. For Open and general category, the tuition fee is one lakh while for ST/SC, the tuition fees is zero. They have to pay only the extra charges and the hostel and mess fee. There are a lot of scholarships and financial Aid programmes run for the lower category people whose family income is below a certain amount. Some of them are merit-cum based scholarship, remission fees and government scholarship are also applicable. All the information about the scholarships are given on the IIT Bombay website.
Campus Life :
The campus life is very very good. Techfest and Mood Indigo are the college fests which are done in the month of December, in which around 1.5 or 1.8 lakhs of people comes to visit. Techfest is Asia's largest science and tech technology festival. Mood Indigo is Asia's largest college cultural festival. In the library of IIT Bombay, almost all the books are available, which are written by different different authors on same topic. Sports facilities over here are best. There are almost around 15 to 16 sports, which are taught by the coach. If somebody wants to become become professional professional in their sports can come to IIT Bombay for that also. Abhyuday is the social body run by the student of IIT Bombay.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostels over there are average, some of the hostels are very good, and some of them are very old. In the room, we have a fan tube lights, table, chair, beds, and Almirah. The mess food is average, Sometimes it is very very good, and sometimes students have to go to canteen for eating. The registration of postal and Meher along with the academic registration. The hostel and mess are affordable as compared to the outside areas. The hostel is inside the campus only and it is very much near to the classrooms and sports complex.
Faculty :
The faculty over there is highly qualified. All of them are those who have done research in their fields from last 10 to 20 years or more, so they have a great knowledge of their Subject. We have a teaching assistant program In which certain number of TAs Formed for better, figuring out the doubts of the students. Let's say in a class of 200, there are around 10 to 15 TAs, Who are available all the time to reduce the communication gap between the students and the professors, and also solve the doubts individually.

Placement Experience :
After 7 semester students become eligible for the placements Placement wise college is average. Do not expect 6–10 lakh package You can get a 3–4 lakh package, and only 70 out of 130 get that(All mass recruiters like TCS, Capgemini, and L&T, only a few core companies visit YCCE 100% placement is a myth, they place students in BPO to increase placement numbers. But if you have even a little bit of coding knowledge you will get in.

I would rate the course curriculum as highly relevant and comprehensive, with a few areas for improvement. The curriculum was well-structured and relevant to the field of study, providing a solid foundation in principles and concepts. It was regularly updated to reflect industry trends and advancements, ensuring students were equipped with the latest knowledge and skills.The curriculum covered a wide range of topics, providing a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. I was particularly drawn to the industry relevance, interdisciplinary approach, and research opportunities. The courses emphasized practical skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, preparing me well for real-world applications and further academic pursuits.However, I believe the curriculum could be improved by placing more emphasis on soft skills, such as communication and teamwork.

Placement Experience :
It is quite great . Average package for CE students is 12LPA . You can get many internships opportunities from third year as well. Majority of the students get placed in the campus it self. recently this year Phonepe visited the college providing 33LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview :
The subjects are very related to our field but the syllabus can be more hands-on instead of just the theory. College needs to go through their syllabus once in a while and add the upcoming market trends. Designing the curriculum according to the market trends can be more helpful for students as it would help them prepare for the industry. Irrelevant subjects shouldn't be added to the syllabus. The curriculum should be more growth oriented and provide efficient knowledge to students. They need to fill in the gap between what is taught in the curriculum and what actually the industry needs feom the students. Syllabus should be covered within time and students so that students get enough time to prepare for the exams. Things which aren't taught during lectures shouldn't be added to our exam papers. College needs to examine their exam schedules and need to adjust the dates accordingly.

Placements at IIT Bombay are really good because of the reputation of college in Industries and strong connections. Students are elgible to sit in campus placements in their last year i.e, 4th year and should not have any back in any course. Around 400 companies visit IIT Bombay for recruitment process with total of around 1700 placement offers in phase 1. Companies like Quadeye, Apple, McKinsey, Jane street, amazon, microsoft, Google, P&G, TATA, Jaguar, Morgan stanly, Bain & Company, Boston Consulting group, etc. Average package offered is around 23.26 LPA, highest package being INR 3.67 CPA. Placements are offered invarious profiles like IT, core research and engineering, finance, consulting, marketing, product management, etc. Approximately, around 80% of students got placed. My plan after graduation is to get placed in management, business, or finance sector.
